Timeline

The time is 8 months after the battle of Yavin and the destruction of the Death Star.

These last months have been a hopeful time for the Rebellion, as many more worlds have joined the ranks of the Alliance-- enraged by the destruction of Alderaan and emboldened by the victory at Yavin. Among these new recruits were Rebel pilots, who found the lumbering Imperial convoys easy pickings for their speedy startfighters. Manpower and supplies were on the rise, and it seemed that the dark days would soon be over.

All of that changed, however, when the full attention of the Imperial war machine turned toward finding and crushing the Rebel base. The Empire's aggressive and ruthless tactics have recently taken a brutal toll on Alliance equipment and personnel, forcing the Rebels to remain on the run and in hiding. To make matters worse, the Empire has added a new vessel to its supply convoys-- the powerful Nebulon-B frigate.

At a fraction of the cost of a Star Destroyer, the Nebulon-B is nonetheless more than a match for the lightly armed Rebel raiders. Since these frigates deployed as convoy escorts, Alliance supply raids have ground to a bloody halt amid heavy starfighter losses. Something will need to be done to counter the effect of these escort vessels, as the flow of critical supplies to the scattered Rebel groups has dwindled to almost nothing.

The Yavaris was one of the first Nebulon-Bs to serve in the Imperial Navy, and one of the first to defect to the Rebellion. Currently a member of the Corellian flotilla under Garm bel Iblis, the Yavaris has quickly become a workhorse in the quest for supplies and materiel.

Starfighter Command has made it a priority to have pilots practice their attack runs against real, live Nebulon-Bs. Wherever the Yavaris goes (and any other Rebel-held Nebulon-B frigate) it is swarmed by friendly pilots on training runs. The ship's gunnery crews are so busy playing the part, "returning fire" in a large scale, harmless game of laser tag, that extra personnel have been added to allow the primary gunners some rest. Black Squadron was rotated through this kind of duty station just prior to their re-assignment to Tierfon.

Re-opening or replacing the supply channels is the top priority of the Rebel Alliance. The Imperials are making it very expensive and dangerous for legitimate businesses or worlds to be caught aiding the Rebels, and in return the Alliance has become increasingly creative in terms of their part-scrounging methods. Among the new schemes is sending out veritable fleets of undercover freelance smugglers, working with Intelligence (Irregulars) or Ordnance and Supply. These 'traders' ply the space lanes from Core to Outer Rim, rounding up materiel for the war effort.

The Tierfon outpost plays a role in this endless quest for supplies, providing both a base for a freelance crew and X-wings for convoy raiding.
